There are many performance opportunities for the clarinetists in my studio and I’m always delighted to help lead students to a successful experience. Studio members have participated in All-Virginia Band and Orchestra, District Bands for districts 9, 10, 11, 12 and 16, Senior Regional Orchestra, Julliard Summer Winds, the American Youth Philharmonic Orchestras, the Virginia Winds Academy, the Northern Virginia Youth Winds, the Main Street Community Band, the Northern Virginia Home School Symphonic Winds and Northern Virginia Youth Winds Junior Winds. Students have successfully performed solos and chamber music for Solo & Ensemble Festival, clinics and masterclasses, and have completed the ABRSM exams all the way through grade 8.
The Grant Clarinet Studio hosts a spring masterclass music series in March to offer students a fun and casual first studio performance experience. Students may play in small groups or perform a piece or exercise they have been studying.
Each spring, students of the Grant Clarinet Studio perform in wonderful studio recitals. The recitals are held in a local art gallery on a Saturday evening; the exact date is provided to students at the beginning of the school year. All students perform solos with piano accompaniment or chamber music; friends and family are warmly welcomed and there is a reception after the performances to celebrate the students' musical growth.
