There are many performance opportunities for the clarinetists in my studio and I’m always delighted to help lead students to a successful experience. Studio members have participated in All-Virginia Band and Orchestra, District Bands for districts 9, 10, 11, 12 and 16, Senior Regional Orchestra, the American Youth Philharmonic Orchestras, the Northern Virginia Youth Winds, the Main Street Community Band, the Northern Virginia Home School Symphonic Winds and Northern Virginia Youth Winds Junior Winds. Students have successfully performed solos and chamber music for Solo & Ensemble Festival, clinics and masterclasses, and have completed the ABRSM exams all the way through grade 8.
The Grant Clarinet Studio hosts multiple private masterclasses throughout the year. Classes for the first semester of the 2017-2018 school year include "Reed Storage & Maintenance," "Clarinet Trivia Challenge," "Middle School Scale Blast," and "High School District Band Etude." Masterclass participation is encouraged for all students and class dates are provided at the beginning of the school year to assist with schedule planning.
Each spring, students of the Grant Clarinet Studio perform in wonderful studio recitals. The recitals are held in a local art gallery on a Saturday evening; the exact date is provided to students at the beginning of the school year. All students perform solos with piano accompaniment or chamber music; friends and family are warmly welcomed and there is an intimate reception after the performances to celebrate the students' musical growth.
This year's spring studio recitals will happen on Saturday, June 2nd, at 6 & 8PM. As with the past several years, we'll be gathering at the beautiful Jo Ann Rose Gallery at the Reston Community Center's Lake Anne location. More information will be provided to students as the date approaches.
